What a wonderful way to end our final week of term! We have enjoyed lots of autumn-themed learning, exploration and special memories together.
Our story of the week was We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger. The children loved joining in with the repeated phrases and exploring the signs of autumn. We spent time learning about different types of leaves, the colours we might see during autumn, and the trees they come from. The children then put their knowledge into practice on their very own leaf hunt across the school field, where they excitedly collected and compared leaves of different shapes, sizes and colours. This supported their understanding of the natural world, encouraging observation skills, curiosity and discussion about seasonal change.
As part of our autumn celebrations, the children became little bakers and enjoyed making their own shortbread biscuits. They helped to mix the ingredients, make the dough, roll it out and choose their favourite cookie cutters. This was a fantastic opportunity to develop fine motor skills, follow simple instructions and build confidence through hands-on experiences. Later, during our Autumnal Event, the children proudly decorated their biscuits with their families using icing and sprinkles.
A huge thank you to all of our families who came along to our Autumnal Event. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying time together and sharing in the children’s learning. We had so much fun exploring the different activities, including rolling pinecones down the guttering, creating delicious pumpkin soup in our mud kitchen, and using pinecones to make beautiful autumn paintings. These experiences encouraged creativity, problem-solving, communication and
We are incredibly proud of all the children and how much they have grown this term. Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you all have a wonderful half-term break! 🍂🍁🧡
