This week, our learning has been centred around the story and theme of “Lost and Found.” The children have loved exploring ideas of friendship, helping others, and finding solutions to problems together.
Through our story discussions, the children shared their own experiences of losing and finding things, developing their confidence to speak in front of others and listen carefully to different viewpoints. We talked about how the characters might be feeling and explored ways we can show kindness and care towards our friends.
In our play and learning, the children have been busy: 🐧 Retelling the story using puppets, small world resources, and role play. 🗺️ Creating maps and journeys to help characters find their way. ✏️ Mark-making, drawing, and writing about adventures and friendships. 🔢 Developing mathematical skills through counting, sorting, and matching activities linked to our theme. 🎨 Using a range of materials to create wonderful artwork inspired by the story.
We have been particularly impressed with the children’s growing independence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. It has been lovely to see them working together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another throughout their learning.
Well done, Reception! We are so proud of all your hard work and enthusiasm this week. 😊✨
