Year 1 – Maple – Directional Language

Today, we have been busy developing our directional and positional language. We practised using words such as forwards, backwards, left and right, as well as the compass directions North, South, East and West, to describe where things are and how to get from one place to another.
We loved doing the ‘cha cha slide’ to warm our brains up ready for following directions.
We then got to work and followed instructions on maps as we listened carefully to directions from our friends. We became map makers, creating our own mazes for a partner to navigate using directional language!
Finally, we wrote our own instructions to help someone move around our classroom, carefully choosing the correct directional language to make sure they reached their destination.
