In Writing this week, Year 5 Cedar class began exploring our new class text, The Journey by Francesca Sanna. This powerful and thought-provoking story will inspire much of our learning this term.
As part of our preparation for upcoming writing lessons, the children worked in groups to create freeze frames based on the opening scenes of the book. They carefully considered the characters’ emotions, body language and relationships, bringing key moments from the story to life. This activity encouraged the children to infer feelings, discuss their ideas and develop a deeper understanding of the text.
It was wonderful to see such creativity, teamwork and thoughtful discussion.
