Making Super, supermarket sandwiches in Hazel and Maple today

Today, during our DT Food Technology unit, we finally made our supermarket-style sandwiches! After spending the last couple of weeks designing, discussing, and planning them, the children were so excited to bring their ideas to life.
They carefully chose their bread, spread the butter, and selected their fillings. Most opted for chicken ham, cheese, and lettuce, creating delicious sandwiches that they were incredibly proud of. Once finished, they cut their sandwiches into halves or quarters, which led to some great discussions about fractions and reinforced their maths learning in a practical way.
The best part was, of course, sitting down to enjoy their creations. The children were full of compliments about their sandwiches and delighted with how tasty they were.
It was a lovely afternoon, with the Year 1 and Year 2 children moving freely between Hazel and Maple classes. While some worked together making their sandwiches, others designed imaginative sandwich creations, wrote recipes and methods, and took part in a range of engaging Food Technology activities. It was a fantastic afternoon of collaboration, creativity, and hands-on learning.
