Following our inspiring recent trip to the Beaney Museum, Year 4 have been exploring the fascinating world of Ancient Egyptian art and culture. As part of their learning, the children researched their favourite Ancient Egyptian sculpture, carefully studying its features, purpose and historical significance. They then used clay to recreate their chosen sculpture, demonstrating great creativity, patience and attention to detail.
This project supported several curriculum objectives across different subjects. In History, children developed their understanding of Ancient Egypt, examining how artefacts provide evidence about life in the past. In Art and Design, they used research and observation to develop their ideas, experimented with sculpting techniques, and created three-dimensional pieces using clay. The children also practised evaluating and refining their work to achieve their desired outcomes.
