This week in RE, Year 4 Sycamore Class explored the idea of temptation and how it appears in stories, daily life, and personal choices. We began by discussing what temptation means — the feeling of wanting to do something even when we know it may not be the right choice. Children shared thoughtful examples of things they might be tempted by, from sweets before dinner to staying up past bedtime.
We then looked closely at the story of Adam and Eve from the Book of Genesis. The class discussed how temptation appears in the story, why the characters made the choices they did, and what the story teaches about consequences, responsibility, and making good decisions.
To deepen their understanding, the children created their own comic strips retelling the story. They focused on sequencing events, showing characters’ emotions, and highlighting the moment of temptation. The creativity and care they put into their work were fantastic.
