The children in Hazel Class enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of water play, making the most of the warm weather while staying cool and engaged. Through play, pupils explored key Science objectives by making observations about everyday materials and their properties, including discussions around floating and sinking. They asked simple questions, tested ideas, and talked about what they noticed.
The activity also reinforced Mathematics skills, as children measured, compared and described quantities using water, developing their understanding of volume and capacity. Informal comparisons supported early reasoning and mathematical language. A particular highlight was filling rubber gloves with water to create imaginative characters, which encouraged Creativity and Design (Art & Design) as well as Spoken Language (English). Pupils shared ideas, described their creations, and engaged in collaborative storytelling. It was wonderful to see the children working together, communicating effectively, and learning through exploration, demonstrating curiosity, creativity and teamwork throughout the afternoon.
