Super, summer salads in year 1 and 2!

The children have been learning important food preparation skills as part of our cooking and nutrition work in Design and Technology. They practised chopping, slicing, peeling and grating while making their own healthy summer salads. The class explored a range of salad vegetables and fruits, choosing the ingredients they liked best to create a colourful plate. Everyone showed great responsibility when using equipment and followed the safety rules carefully. After enjoying their creations, the children worked in groups to talk about their ingredients, describing the texture and appearance of the foods they used. It was a very enjoyable session that helped the children develop confidence, independence and key food‑preparation skills.
