Hedgehog class took part in a hands on jelly making experience, carefully following each step of the process with adult support. They listened to the instructions, helped to stir and pour the water, and worked together by sharing space and taking turns. This supported their communication and language development as they followed simple directions.
The next day, the children had the opportunity to taste the jelly they had made. They sat together at the table beautifully, showing growing confidence in their personal, social and emotional development. We encouraged them to ask for more using verbal language or appropriate Makaton signs such as “more” and “please,” supporting their communication and early social manners.
Alongside this, the children explored a second pre‑made jelly as part of a sensory activity. They enjoyed touching, squeezing, and investigating the texture. This activity promoted their physical development, particularly fine motor skills, and encouraged curiosity and exploration.
The children really loved this activity – as you can see from their big smiles! 🥰
