We have had so much fun during Culture Week! The children engaged in a rich variety of experiences that supported progress across the Early Learning Goals. Through flamenco dancing, they developed gross motor skills, coordination and confidence while expressing themselves creatively, linking closely to Physical Development and Expressive Arts and Design. Singing Spanish songs encouraged attentive listening, repetition of new vocabulary and experimentation with unfamiliar sounds, strengthening Communication and Language as well as broadening their awareness of different cultures. Making Italian pizza provided opportunities to refine fine motor skills, follow simple hygiene routines and explore ingredients, supporting Physical Development, PSED, and Understanding the World. Learning Yoruba words and exploring life in Nigeria deepened the children’s understanding of similarities and differences between people, places and languages, directly supporting Understanding the World – People, Culture and Communities while also nurturing respect, curiosity and positive relationships. Altogether, the week offered meaningful, hands‑on learning that strengthened children’s language, creativity, cultural awareness and sense of belonging within a diverse world.
