This week, the children were thoroughly engaged with The Camel Who Had the Hump, using the story as a springboard to explore real desert environments on the Orboot globes. In line with Development Matters, they developed their Understanding the World by learning about contrasting environments, including key features of deserts such as extreme temperatures, limited rainfall, and the plants and animals that live there. They made meaningful comparisons between these environments and places familiar to them.
Through rich discussion and the introduction of new vocabulary such as dunes and oasis, the children also strengthened their Communication and Language skills, extending their vocabulary and speaking in full sentences to share their ideas and observations. This exploration supported their curiosity about the world and helped them make connections between stories and real-life experiences.
