Islamic art in Sycamore

Today in Year 4 Sycamore, the children explored the concept of low and high relief in Islamic art. They looked closely at how artists use depth, pattern, and texture to bring designs to life.
Using clay, the children then created their own relief pieces. They experimented with pressing, carving, and layering to form repeating patterns inspired by traditional Islamic geometric art. The focus, as always, was on creativity, curiosity, and developing confidence with new artistic techniques.
The class showed fantastic focus and imagination, and their finished clay reliefs look wonderful.
