Honey for You, Honey for Me- Saplings

Saplings had a truly wonderful first week back in Nursery, settling in happily and eagerly immersing themselves in a rich collection of poems from Honey for You, Honey for Me. Each day, the children focused on a different poem, taking time to explore its rhythm, language, and themes through discussion, movement, and imaginative play. This helped them build confidence in listening, speaking, and expressing their own ideas inspired by the poetry.
The creative aspect of the week was a particular highlight. Saplings Class thoroughly enjoyed a range of hands-on activities linked to the poems, including making delicious honey toast, preparing jelly, and crafting bird feeders. These experiences allowed the children to connect the poems to real-life experiences, engaging their senses and encouraging curiosity about the world around them.
With the weather being so beautiful, we made the most of our outdoor environment by taking our learning outside. The children delighted in a nature hunt around the school grounds, carefully observing their surroundings and using iPads to photograph their discoveries. This not only supported their understanding of the natural world but also introduced them to using technology as a tool for exploration and documentation. #earlybirds
