Understanding capacity !

This week in Maths, Squirrel Class has been exploring capacity.

We began with a hands‑on investigation in which the children measured and compared the capacities of different containers using water. Having the opportunity to pour and fill the containers themselves helped them understand important mathematical language such as full, empty, more than, less than, and the difference between capacity and volume.

To build on this practical learning, the children then completed follow‑up activities in their books. This gave them the chance to begin recording capacity and volume and demonstrate their understanding through drawings, sentences, and comparisons.

Well done, Squirrels! 🤩⭐️
