Chassis, Axels and wheels! Hazel class

In Design & Technology, the children in Years 1 and 2 have been exploring simple mechanisms, learning how wheels, axles and chassis work together to make a vehicle move. Today they applied their developing skills—cutting, shaping, joining and finishing materials—to complete their own creative cars. It was wonderful to watch their enthusiasm as they selected appropriate components, constructed their chassis, attached wheels and axles, and tested how well their mechanisms worked. The classroom was filled with focus, creativity and collaboration, as the children supported one another, solved problems and evaluated their designs. Their pride and sheer enjoyment were evident in every finished model.
