Oak class YR

This week we had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day in Reception. The children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters and loved sharing who they were and why they chose them. This supported their Communication and Language development, as back‑and‑forth conversations, opportunities to talk about their interests, and rich language experiences are central to Reception learning.

We were also visited by older children who came to read with us. This experience reflects the guidance that children should listen attentively, engage in stories, and develop their understanding through high‑quality language interactions, all of which help to nurture early comprehension skills and a love of reading in Reception.

It was a truly joyful day that strengthened children’s confidence, listening skills, and enthusiasm for books.
