This week in Oak Class we explored Jack and the Beanstalk, a story the children have absolutely loved. At the start of the week, everyone planted their own cress seeds. Across the week, the children have been observing the changes with great excitement, developing their Understanding the World skills as they noticed growth, compared sizes, and talked about what plants need to survive.
We also used this opportunity to deepen learning in Communication and Language, encouraging the children to use ambitious vocabulary to describe the different parts of a plant and to explain how their own seedlings had changed over time. The children showed wonderful curiosity, careful observation, and growing scientific understanding.
Well done, Oaks — fantastic learning! 🌱
