Nursery – Cherry Class

This week, we have been reading ‘There’s a Superhero in Your Book’. The story helped us explore different superpowers, with a focus on kindness, supporting children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development as they began to recognise, name and talk about feelings.  The children have been busy making emotion soups, choosing and combining ingredients that represent different feelings, with kindness being the most important one. This encouraged them to express their ideas and preferences, developing communication and language skills.

Outdoors, the children have been exploring the environment with confidence, strengthening their gross and fine motor skills. Using tweezers, scissors and spoons allowed them to further develop their hand–eye coordination and control.

Inside the classroom, the children have been investigating and searching high and low for hidden superheroes. They used iPads to take photographs, supporting their early technology skills and understanding of how to use simple digital equipment.

We also explored a science-themed activity by placing Hulk jelly babies in milk and water. The children made predictions about which one might grow more, supporting their early understanding of the world and encouraging curiosity. We will check back after the weekend to see whose prediction was correct!  #earlybirds
