Maths in Sycamore

Year 4 Sycamore have been developing their understanding of equivalent fractions, focusing particularly on fractions in eighths. The children explored how different fractions can represent the same value and practised reasoning about fractional relationships.

To make their learning practical and engaging, the class created their own pizza fractions, using the pizza model to visualise how fractions can be divided, compared, and shown as equivalents. This hands-on activity helped reinforce their understanding of how eighths relate to other fractions and how to represent these accurately.

Great fraction work, Sycamore Class!
